Hi all, I will be taking part in the Mammoth Marathon on the 14th May, racing from Sea Palling seafront to Sheringham High school.
I have decided to raise money for the Norfolk Community Foundation as I wanted to pick a local charity, the Norfolk Community Foundation isn’t just any charity, it’s a charity that supports other charities and community organisations all across Norfolk helping them to remain sustainable and deliver much needed resources to the community. In fact the Norfolk Community Foundation supports over 2,000 small charity groups and their work touches 1 in every 4 people living within Norfolk.
The Norfolk Community Foundation have enabled many of our ‘Warm Spaces’ across the county with their community Hot-Spot fund, ensuring their are provisions in our community so that no one goes cold, hungry or feels alone. They are Supporting innovative and long-term food solutions for our county, enabling people to access good quality and affordable food through their Nourishing Norfolk Network.
Sir Norman Lamb and Norfolk Community Foundation have established an innovative Coalition of Norfolk-based VCSE organisations working with children and young people to help strengthen their existing services and encourage and promote innovation to enrich our children and young people’s lives.
I could go on and on about how beneficial this charity is for our community and all the work they are or have been involved in, but instead I’ll let you take a look for yourselves.

So apart from raising money to help build stronger communities and help to improve the lives of people Norfolk, why should you sponsor me?
- I deeply regretted all my life decisions approximately 5 minutes after registering.
- 5KM is currently the longest distance I have raced so far in my wheelchair so this is going to be a massive undertaking (and even that was last summer).
- The hill from Sheringham Town up to the high school is an absolute killer on a normal day, let alone after already completing 25 miles.
- Did you know the zig zag slopes from Cromer seafront are also included in the route?
- I still have multiple Christmas dinners to digest before I can start training. (Also it’s cold, wet and dark and I don’t want to 😂).
- There is a slight chance I might die.
- If you couldn’t even consider running this distance imagine what it’s like doing it in a wheelchair.
- I’m doing this in an every day chair not a specialist racing chair.
- When making my decision I somehow pictured the 5km distance I’ve covered before as 5 miles, so actually thought it as only 5 times what I have done before instead of 8.5 times the distance (that was silly of me).
- I also thought a marathon was 21 miles not 26.2 miles 🤦🏼♀️.
- You know that if I achieve this I will likely attempt something even more stupid at a later date 😂.
- Your all bad influences 😂.
- I’m to old for this s***
- This distance is further than Cromer to Norwich.
- I’m regretting googling that last fact.
