Kilimanjaro trek 2010 · 17 September 2010
I have wanted to do a trek or something similar for a number of years and definitely before I get too old! As my 30th is creeping up on me (too fast for my liking!) I thought that now is the right time to get my butt into gear and do it.
I have set up my own website with updates about my fundraising and training efforts to keep you posted. Visit here for a more in-depth look at what I am doing and why, for the shorter version keep reading...
One day I met Liz from Children Today, she was passionate about the work they did and I felt very excited about the charity and the work they did for children up to 25 with sickness and disability. Liz mentioned the trek she was organising and I felt that I wanted to do something to help support the charity, I had previously been to other fundraising events she organised and thought that the trek would be the perfect opportunity to do more for the charity so I thought about it long and hard and mithered everyone I knew to do it with me. Finally Clarrie said she would do it with me (don't think she knew what she'd let herself in for but don't think I did either). So that was it we met with Liz to sign up....
I know most people reading this will be laughing at the thought of me walking in the freezing cold, up a high mountain for a week!!! (And yes I am laughing too with nerves!). My motto is "If Chris Moyles can do it then so can I!" but as time goes on I am starting to panic about sleeping in a tent, high altitude, no running water, no comforts, walking etc, etc (aarrggghhhhh!). But that is where the challenge is...
In order to do this I need lots of support and donations so that Children Today can continue with their good work for children and families. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
I will keep you posted as I embark on this personal, emotional and physical challenge! If you would like some more information just email me j3nbob@hotmail.co.uk or visit http://summit-up.webs.com/Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
