My story
I am running the TCS New York City Marathon in Nov 2023 for Brain Research UK. This is such a brilliant opportunity to raise some funds for this research charity. It's going to be tough but I feel very excited to run through the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan!
I also ran the Great North Run in Sep 2023 as part of this cause and to train for the marathon.
Brain Research UK specialize in researching neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease for which there are currently no cures.
The charity also undertakes research into conditions such as brain tumours, brain and spinal cord injury, and migraines, which are some of their current focuses.
Through personal experience, studying and working in settings with those affected by neurological conditions, I have unfortunately witnessed the devastating effects these can have on people and their families. But I have also witnessed the strength and courage in those affected, and that is what will be motivating me through training and those 26.2 miles in NYC.
Having done 5 official half marathons over the past 3 years, (and a few on my own) the nerves are kicking in for what will be a much, much longer and gruelling race. I will be undertaking training to get race-ready. As part of this I will be running a few half marathon races which I can update on here as and when.
My fundraising target is at least £2500 and I would be so grateful to anybody who is able to give anything to help me towards this target.
Thank you!!
