Story
Hello folks
Thanks for visiting this lovely little page with a big target.
I've been enticed into marathon action by London hosting the Olympics this year and (unrealistic) dreams of a fantastic time for my first marathon. I'm all about Sunday 22nd April, training plans, good socks and the 26.2 miles that I'm sure will be quite an experience.
I'm running the marathon to raise funds for AMREF. AMREF's work is really important to me and back in 2005 my experience of working with AMREF in Kenya made me change my career into working in international development. Having then spent 3.5 years working for AMREF I know the real difference the organisation makes to women, children and families in Africa. AMREF is a truly African organisation that works in the really hard to reach areas, working with communities that many others don't reach. The photos I've put on this page are from a visit to Ethiopia where we travelled 2 days by road and then even farther off road to reach families that were benefiting from AMREF's work.
I'm also running the marathon in memory of a dear AMREF colleague and friend who lost his life early this year in South Sudan - Dr Alemayehu Seifu.
Massive thanks for any support you can offer.
Jen
