Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Some of you already know that the past 8 months have been some of the hardest for Rich's brother Phil and his wife Tanya. On the 5th October last year their three year old son Henry contracted Ecoli and a disease called HUS which attacks our kidneys, stomach and brain. Henry was admitted to Bristol Children's hospital on the 11th October and was in a coma for 6 weeks. Nearly eight months later there has been some improvement and he has been moved to The Children's Trust Neuro rehab centre (www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/) where he can start some kind of rehabilitation to prepare him and his family for his return home in 6-12 months.
Phil and a team of friends have already raised over £28k by completing various fundraising challenges and now its our turn.
Kate and I and our families cannot begin to imagine what Phil and Tanya are going through and we are completely in awe of their strength and unity. Their resilience has inspired us, in some small way, to pull together a team of part time athletes to do the Dawlish Triathlon on Sunday 28th September (http://www.dawlishtriathlon.co.uk) - completing a 750m sea swim, a 21km bike ride and a 5km run. No mean feat for most of us!
We hope very much that you can support us and in turn Phil, Tanya, Henry and Oliver and the truly amazing work that The Children's Trust are doing for Henry and countless other people.
Thank you and wish us luck!
Rich and Jems
