Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, I can assure you that this is the 2nd best decision you have made in your life. The above statement is CORRECT and on 8th June 2013, I WILL be participating in Tought Mudder, a 12 mile, military-style obstacle course raising money specifically to fund and provide extra resources for Cancer Research.
Why am I doing it?
2013 has been a very difficult year for my family. On Feburary 8th my father John Ben Simmons Jr lost his battle with Prostate Cancer. As a strong and heroic figure in my life I will like to not only dedicate this event in his honour but also make it my personal mission to raise money for all Cancer related illnesses. Unfortunately I am sure that we have all been effected by Cancer in some shape or form, but with research and funding we can help eradicate this disease.
Why Cancer Research
There are many forms of this terrible disease and Cancer Research UK and funding Cancer Research helps save millions of lives across the world, helping to ensure you have more precious time with your loved ones.
Cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years and Cancer Research has been at the heart of the progress.
Stats
Did you know 1 in 3 of us will actually personally suffer from of cancer in our lifetime. Research into cures and treatments for cancer is vital, and this is my small way to help us all in the future, especially our children.
How will your money Help?
£1,000 could buy 10 sophisticated microarrays. These help scientists scrutinise thousands of genes in a single experiment. Microarrays are a powerful piece of gene technology which allow researchers to compare how active different genes are in cancer cells and healthy cells.
No money is too little all help is needed, however big or small. I really appreciate all your support over the past few months. If anyone can make it to the event I would really appreciate all the support on race day the details are below
