Story
Right now, all of us are living through unprecedented times of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The virus has upended so much of our lives and it's not easy for any of us.
Charities across the world are facing imminent collapse with every area of income falling sharply. At the same time, we know that minorities, including LGBT people, are always hardest hit during times of crisis.
That's why I've decided to do what I can to support Stonewall. It's not just a charity I love and work for, it's an organisation that fights for the equality of all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people both here in the UK and abroad. Stonewall works to:
- Empower LGBT people to be their authentic selves, enabling them to realise and achieve their full potential, and we empower LGBT people and allies to create positive change.
- Help institutions, like workplaces and schools, create inclusive and accepting cultures.
- Change the way society feels about LGBT people, so we can be ourselves in every area of our life.
- Ensure that laws and rights essential for LGBT equality are created, maintained, protected and defended.
I know right now is not the best time to be asking for donations, but I hope you can support me and Stonewall. We will get through these difficult days and when we do, LGBT people like me, will need charities like Stonewall to be in the best possible position to continue fighting to make the world a better place.
