Story
I am running 26.2 miles in the 2022 TCS London Marathon to support the MS Society. My first sign of MS was a blurred vision issue I recognized on the golf range in July of 2020. A few weeks later I started feeling odd "electric shocks" in my upper jaw. After eye exams cleared a possible detached retina diagnosis I had full brain and spinal MRI's taken. These showed indications of "white matter lesions" on both my brain and cervical spine confirming my MS diagnosis. I have come to learn the "electric shocks" are from a condition caused by MS called Trigeminal Neuralgia. If you have never heard of it, google it. It can be debilitating when it flares up. MS is an unpredictable and incurable condition that affects people's nervous systems. It can attack suddenly or progress steadily, bringing a range of symptoms which can include sight loss, incontinence, fatigue and mobility problems. No-one with MS can be sure when or how it will affect them next. The MS Society funds vital research into the causes of MS and possible treatments. They provide a helpline service, answering the calls of those looking for advice and support. They believe that together, we are strong enough to stop MS. I want to thank you for helping me out on my journey to the London Marathon. #NOBADDAYS
