Story
Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page (and hopefully donating) where I am hoping to raise money for Contact by running the London Marathon 2022. My original 2020 entry was postponed due to its cancellation in the midst of the pandemic, my 2021 entry was postponed due to injury, so with 6 weeks to go until the day, hopefully my 2022 entry will be third time lucky for me.
I am running on behalf of Contact a Family, a UK charity providing support for families with disabled children in addition to promoting policies and campaigns to reduce the difficulties and inequalities which such families face, and a worthy cause for which to run for. It remains a relatively small organisation, spending the vast majority of funds raised on charitable activities, but last year alone supported 196,000 families. More information can be found here: https://contact.org.uk/about-contact/what-we-do/
As you can guess from my profile picture of me in the aftermath of the only other time I entered an organised running event (it was the Maldon Half Marathon 2019), I am reasonably anticipating a full marathon to be gruelling, difficult, and hopefully deserving of sponsorship. I have stuck quite rigorously to my 16 week training programme (including 5am starts to ensure I am back in time for toddler breakfast!) but I am expecting it to be rudely interrupted by the arrival of my second son due at the end of August! Wife and soon to be children permitting, I am optimistic that I will still be able to make it round, and I would be very grateful for any donations you might be able to give me in support!
Thank you!!!
Joseph
