Story
Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity close to my heart.
My ten year old son Harry describes his best friend and classmate Archie Hill as funny, sporty, cool and always happy. That Archie happens to have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy doesn't affect their friendship in any way. I've known Archie since he joined the Reception class at our local Infants school with Harry aged five. They formed a strong friendship and bonded over a love of football like most little boys. At that time I'd never have known that Archie had recently been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and that the Hill's life as they knew it had been turned upside down. It's only recently that the changes in Archie have become more apparent and that's why it's so important to raise this money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy UK now. I want to help Archie to keep on his feet, to continue playing football and doing all the things my son takes for granted. As a family we have supported the charity and the Hill's over the past six years raising in excess of £10000. My husband Matt obtained a place through the ballot in 2015 and elected to run for TeamOrange and now it's my turn to take on the challenge and raise as much money as I possibly can to help boys like Archie.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions. They are making a difference today, providing vital information and support to help people live as independently as possible. They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.
