Well I did it - and in an excellent time! The weather was lovely on Saturday and the night was cold but very clear. It was ideal for such a long walk. The views over Edinburgh were lovely, particularly as the walk came down the road past Arthur's Seat. The clear sunrise over the sea in the early hours was very special and helped provide interest during the long walk to Portobello (see photo). 

I completed the walk in six hours and fifty minutes (including toilet breaks and stretches) which is much better than I have ever done before or could ever have hoped for. I was extremely tired at the finish but very happy as you can see from the photo. Reg was a real help, providing support every few miles during the second half of the walk.

I would like to thank everyone for their very generous support - the £600+ will go to a very good cause. As to whether I will try again - it will not be next year, but who knows how I will feel in 2012?
