On Thursday morning 31 July 2014 Claire Drummond and I will be setting off from Callander on our bikes with the intention of reaching Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye on the Saturday evening - 2 August; three days of cycling between 60 to 70 miles per day.

We're raising funds for the STV Appeal 2014 to help tackle child poverty in Scotland. There are shocking statistics about poverty in Scotland - 220,000 children live in poverty, that's one in five of Scotland's children officially recognised as living in poverty.  And it's getting worse - The Institute of Fiscal Studies forecasts that as a result of UK tax and benefit policies there will be significant increases in these figures.  

This is horrendous in 2014. Nobody should be living in poverty, choosing between whether they eat, or keep warm, or get the new shoes their child badly needs.
