Three Peaks Challenge – JCDecaux
We intend to use this challenging event to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital who tirelessly care for 619 children and young people that arrive each day from across the UK for life-changing treatments.
Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. Every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world. Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick does not always mean being sad. And it’s a place where you’ll find – today and every day – some of the bravest people you could ever meet.
So here at JCDecaux we want to be brave and challenge ourselves to complete the national Three Peaks! The Three Peaks Challenge involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. It is an endurance event none of us have previously undertaken and trying to achieve this on mass will be a HUGE undertaking, testing us physically and mentally. We will walk approximately 26 miles, most of it will be on steep uneven ground, climbing and descending a total of 3408m.
The challenge starts in Scotland at Ben Nevis, which at 1345m
is the tallest of the three. From there the mission will be to drive south to the Lake District where we climb Scafell Pike, 978m, the smallest of the three but packing a big punch and will be descended in darkness!
The final mountain we will conquer is Wales’s Mount Snowdon,
standing at no less than 1085m. At this point, our bodies will be weary but with strong minds, grit and determination we hope to achieve this mammoth challenge!!
Over 40 of JCDecaux’s leanest and meanest employees have volunteered to embark on this challenge, representing many of our business divisions and from all across the UK including our Plymouth, Brentford, Paddington, Manchester and Leeds offices in a true JCDecaux #ONETEAM spirit.
We ask that you help support us by donating to our page and
helping us reach our £15K target for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
