Story
Who?
Jayne-lar - The one with the ailments & dodgy ankle (god help us all, how will she get through)
Gem-lar - The small yet freakishly strong one, will be seen darting among the men in the crowds looking out for hotties.
Sylv-lar - Will get round wearing a pink tutu, a pink cowboy hat, waving a magic wand whilst singing Amarillo and selling pink keyrings.
Shaz-lar - The fit one (in more ways than one) will breeze through in approx 10 mins - will be wearing three/four sports bras to keep those beauties at bay and giggling maniacally
What?
Race for life 5km Sunday 8th May 2011 at Darley Park, Derby
Why?
Jayne's mum Patricia Batey was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2010.
What an awful moment that was for her and for the rest of the family and it was the beginning of a roller coaster ride characterised by invasive operations, long recoveries, debilitating treatments and a general feeling of impending doom!
After this very long haul, Pat bravely finished chemotherapy in January 2011 with much less hair but with much love and support and Sylv suggested that this is a deserving milestone to celebrate and to raise some money for cancer research. Pat is still undergoing radiotherapy and we know breast cancer is always an ongoing battle but we remain positive.
It is only because of the massive steps forward in research that have resulted from all the money raised out there by people like you, that people like Jayne's mum can benefit from the breakthrough treatments that are now available and we want this to continue so please if you can give whatever you can afford to support our run (yes, we are going to try!) then we really appreciate your support.
Thanks, the Girls
