Story
The Coronavirus has dealt a cruel blow to people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND); we need vital funds more than ever to make sure everyone with MND and their families have the best possible care and support.
The dedication of the MND Association continues during these hard times. Funds are needed to provide grants to pay for a range of equipment such as wheel chair accessories, arm raisers to wash & dry toilets. We have also received an increase in requests for emergency grants due to financial hardship.
The Association invests in a range of services from welfare benefits advice, communication aid loans to MND Clinical nurse specialists and Care Centres across the UK. The charity is also committed to finding a cure for MND and invests substantially in research.
MND is a devastating terminal disease affecting 5000 adults in the UK; the condition can often be overlooked due to the small number of people affected however the impact is felt greatly by the individual and by all those that care for that individual.
Symptoms can progress quickly from muscle weakness, muscle cramps and stiff joints to breathing and swallowing difficulties. Many people lose their speech and are unable to move, they become a prisoner in their own body.
Please dig deep and give as much as you can to ensure everyone living with MND get the care and support when they need it most.
