Story
Hi, due to a cancer scare within the family I was unable to take part in the Inca Trail - HOWEVER I have continued with my sponsorship page as all donations have still gone directly to the Alzheimer's Society and they have kindly agreed to forward this on to next year and let me take part in the trek of the Great Wall of China. So, please read my grandma's story below and help me reach £1600 sponsorship.
The trek will be hard and will need considerable training.
I am paying the trip costs myself in full so all money goes straight to the Alzheimer's Society.
Five years ago my grandma was diagnosed with dementia, a year later Alzheimers was also confirmed. She was always a calm, caring and loving lady who was dignified and strong. Alzheimers coupled with dementia has slowly hacked away at her personality, at times leaving her unrecognisable, apart from the little spark I still see in her eyes. As the years have passed she has deteriorated to the point that she now requires 24 hour nursing care. She is unable to speak and can only communicate through noises and wailing, which is extremely distressing to hear. I have decided to take on this challenge in support of Alzheimer's Society as if one person can benefit from my cause then at least I have achieved something.
Those of you who know me, know that this is going to be difficult for me. I have never attempted anything on this level and am not the fittest person!!!!
I would really appreciate all your support and belief that I can do this,
Much Love,
