One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Think of how many women and girls you know, then think how many of them could be counted in that one in nine in the future. Over 45,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. But it's not just women. Around 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year too.
On 16 May 2009, we will be taking part in the Playtex Moonwalk for the charity Walk The Walk to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. The Moonwalk is a 26.2 mile power walking marathon around London - at night - in a bra! That's like walking from Hyde Park in London to junction 9 on the M1!
So, please sponsor us to do this marathon and raise money for breast cancer research. If you are a UK taxpayer you can donate an extra 25% through Gift Aid with no extra cost to yourself. Just put a tick in the box. It can be as little or as much as you want, but you can feel proud to have helped out such a good cause. If nothing else, think of Steve walking all that way in a bra!
Thanks for looking, and don't forget to come back and see how we did.
Jayne & Steve
Update: Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far. We will continue collecting until 16th August.
We both completed the full 26.2 miles in under 9 hours. It was an amazing experience. The whole event is expected to raise over £6m.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Walk The Walk Worldwide gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
