Story

Alan's story

Alan Sansom - an amazing husband, fantastic dad, grandad, brother, uncle and friend.

Alan touched so many lives with his generosity, fantastic sense of humour, caring and selfless personality. He is greatly missed by all who knew him and always loved.

Alan was an extremely fit and active man being a gymnastics coach and into motorcycle sports. The first signs of any problems started in May 2015 when he started suffering from heavy headaches and numbness in his right hand. A scan in July at Southampton General Hospital showed that it was a Grade 4 GBM (Glioblastoma Multiforme).

The tumour was in a dangerous position and the doctors refused to operate so it was intended that it would be blasted by 6 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and then radiotherapy.

"Alan touched so many lives with his generosity, fantastic sense of humour, caring and selfless personality. He is greatly missed by all who knew him and always loved"

Unfortunately
the tumour haemorrhaged on Friday 10
th July before any treatment was started and Alan passed away on the 20th July 2015.

Alan's passing has left a massive hole in our family lives, but also in the lives of everyone who knew him. We all miss him terribly. We have set up the Fund in Alan's memory in the hope that treatments can be developed to cure brain tumours so that other families don't have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to this dreadful disease.

Please donate, organise events, have fun raising money in Alan's name - He will always be with you, whatever you do, cheering you on and having a laugh with you saying -You Take Care Now!"
