Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support, gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I decided to run the "Coventry Half Marathon" at very short notice (i.e. the night before), on Sunday 25th October, which was quite a mad thing to do as I had not put in the time and training necessary to contemplate such a task.
The inspiration was due to recently losing my husband's Uncle Geno who was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on 7th July and only managed to fight his illness until 30th September 2009 when it all became too much.
Geno was aged 66 years and was a true inspiration to me and will sadly be missed by all the family, especially his lovely wife Carole who also lost her Sister June in March this year (My Lovely Mother In Law) and now her husband both to this horrible disease called Cancer.
The nurses who came to help Geno from Macmillan Cancer Support where absolutely brilliant and helped Carole cope with the endless drugs that had to be administered and nursing Geno needed towards the end.
People who do this job really do need a medal and I am glad to try and do my bit by trying to raise awareness and send donations to this common illness that has totally been apart of mine and my family’s life this year.
Please make a difference by donating every little helps to keep these marvellous people working to improve the lives of those fighting against the terrible illness that is Cancer.
Thank you very much for your support
Jaynie xx
