Our Eldest Daughter Jessica has struggled with very severe Epilepsy for the last 10 years. In January 2017 she went into a prolonged continuous seizure and became very dangerously ill. Jess spent nearly 4 months in Sheffield Children’s Hospital in the Critical Care Unit much of it on full life support and exhausted pretty much every possible treatment with no success. The only real option left to her was an experimental form of Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. This complex surgery however could only be undertaken by a specialist team in King’s College Hospital in South London. The only problem then was how to transport Jessica nearly 200 miles safely as her condition was extremely unstable. A specialist team Embrace we’re able to transport Jess in the Children’s Air Ambulance. This specialist team transported Jess and Amanda from Sheffield into Kings safely in less than an hour.
Jess underwent 3 lots of Brain surgery at Kings and finally returned home in early June, The surgery went well and Jess is enjoying life. The Children’s air ambulance receive no Government or National lottery funding and solely rely on charity, we as a family are for ever in their Debt and will always support this wonderful service xxxx
