Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everybody!
The CannonBallers: Jay, Ian, Kim, Beth and Janna are at it again!!!
Raising money for The Lennox Children's Cancer Fund, an amazing local charity.
They work tirelessly for local families dealing with childhood cancers, and making this awful situation a little bit bearable.
So we have all decided to strap ourselves to the top of a plane on the 23rd June at Damyns Hall airdrome and raise loads of money for this worth while charity!
Many of you already know our family, and our recent life journey.
Three years ago we were delivered the gut wrenching, heart breaking, earth shattering news, our 3 year old baby boy had developed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).
I'll never forget that moment in the A&E department. All the air and noise seemed to had vanished, and from somewhere far off I could hear this animal like wail, and when I burst into the room & picked Janna up from the floor reality started to kick in. All I wanted to do was take my sons place, it should of been me not him I thought. Then suddenly the noise and activity flooded back through my senses, petrifying doesn't cover it, as the health care professionals rallied round to save our boys life, that night we were bombarded with chemotherapy treatment plans for the next 3 years.
At first I felt our family were in a bubble, we felt we had no control over the situation, and we all felt trapped and helpless, but we were so focused on getting through the first 6 months of intensive chemo. We knew George would be sick, in lots of pain, he would lose his hair and be admitted to hospital a lot.
What comes after is often unexpected, after intense chemo, George still had to have on going treatment, not intense, but everyday for the next 3 years. This left George quite weak and open to all viruses and infections. We thought we would be getting our lives back on track, it turned out we spent more time in hospital than before. Our family was separated at these times and it hurts something awful.
This January George took his last chemo tablet, the elation and relief we have felt as a whole is just incredible. As a father I feel at peace and content (as much as a parent can be!) I truly didn’t realise the strain we was under until it was lifted.
It’s this strain, financially and emotionally where
the Lennox Childrens Cancer Fund recognises that families going through this turmoil need extra support and care providing respite holidays around the UK, offering financial advice and support where needed, or sometimes just there for those who need a chat and a shoulder to cry on!
The Lennox gave us a weeks respite a couple of years ago, it was lovely. Calm, peaceful and some much needed family time. We decided we wanted to give other families in our situation the opportunity for the Lennox Trust to do the same for them.
So on behalf of The Lennox Children's Cancer Fund and THE CANNON BALLERS I'd like to say- Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Love and thanks, best wishes
Jay
