My name is Jay Barnes. I am completing this challenge as part of my Duke of Edinburgh award.
I will run 2 kilometres every day from 1st November 2022 - 31st January 2023. This will be a total of 184k
I have chosen to raise money for Burnley community grocery (the message trust) due to the challenging times faced by all. This grocery store sits in the middle between high cost of a ordinary supermarket and being completely dependant on a food bank.
For £5 annual membership (per household) and just £4 for the shopping you can get 15 items.
I visited the shop and met both the manager, assistant manager and the volunteers and they are all doing a great job and the shop was super busy.
It was great to see a lovely, friendly, positive environment but also harrowing at how much it’s being used and therefore a need to support.
I was very touched by spending a short period of time there and it really made me feel sad that people cannot always afford to buy food. If I can just help a little bit by completing this challenge, raising awareness of Burnley community grocery and encouraging people to attend before having to consider a food bank then I will feel proud and happy that I have made a minor change and supported someone!
please help me to achieve my goal in raising money and awareness for this wonderful charity!

Update!!!!!
I’m half just over half way and it’s been a very gruelling few weeks with the weather but I’m still going! My knees have been a bit sore the last few days so taking it easy on my times.
Thank you to Shuttleworth college teachers for running it once a week with me. Great encouragement. Now the road to Christmas.
Thank you to every single person that has donated so far.
