Story
I drank quite a bit in 2018 and most people who know me know I like a drink.
I also found 2018 really challenging (probably one of the reasons why I drank quite a lot) - working in student support meant that it was inevitable that at some point a student would come along whose situation echoed my own situation when I was around that age. When that happened in February, it hit me really hard and I had to seek support.
Through Solace Women's Aid, I was able to access 15 weeks of counselling for free, at very short notice, with an amazing counsellor who consoled me, challenged me and heard me. I can't say how it would have been if they hadn't been able to do that but considering how difficult last year was even with that it suffices to say that I am endlessly grateful.
It's important to note also that they help women and children who are in immediate danger as well as supporting women who have experienced abuse and violence in the past, so a pretty legit cause I hope you'll agree!
I know it's January and money isn't floating about but I figured since I was planning on doing Dry January anyway I might as well see if I could raise a bit for them in return for the ways in which they've helped me.
Donate if you can. Cheers!

PS for anyone raising their eyebrows about why I'm not drinking this month I will happily post a 'first drink in February' video!!
