Story

Following my ACL reconstruction surgery last year I was very eager to get back to my usual sports routine of playing Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Running, ...

The normal recovery time following this operation is 9 months and involves physiotherapy sessions. I can say I have almost recovered thanks to the medical team at Heatherwood hospital and the physio staff at Wexham.

Fortunately for me the ACL operation is common and pretty straight forward procedure these days (although I have heard of rare cases where there were complications following this operation) however there are many bone and joint diseases which still require extensive tests and further research to have breakthroughs or enhance existing procedures allowing a better quality of life for the patients.

I will be part taking in a charity cycling event from London to Cambridge on Sunday 2nd July and by doing so aiming to raise awareness and support Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK). ORUK aims to improve the lives of millions of adults and children affected by bone and joint disease through funding high quality research, training and education.

Please join me in this journey by your kind support and contributions.

Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK) aims to improve the lives of millions of adults and children affected by bone and joint disease through funding high quality research, training and education. Our research projects promote collaboration between surgeons, scientists and engineers. They have helped develop new artificial limbs and joints, led to better pain relief, increased insights into conditions such as bone tumours, arthritis and osteoporosis and improved the treatment of sporting and trauma injuries. We are one of the most significant funders of orthopaedic research in the UK, but much more needs to be done to achieve our ultimate vision of eliminating bone and joint disease.
