Story
I have always enjoyed swimming despite being self taught and learning late at age 11. I had not entered a pool for a few years until October 2022 when my village neighbour, and now swim buddy, Nadine Farris wanted to get more exercise in her life. “Of course,” I said, “‘I’m in!” A short while after, however, she was approached by another villager, Alison L’Herminier, and in a moment of madness both had signed up to participate in British Heart Foundation’s Pier to Pier swim being held on 1st July. The Pier to Pier is 1.4 miles (2.2k) in length going between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers in Dorset.
With our twice weekly swimming sessions going well seeing us get faster and stronger (even having the odd swimming lesson), they both began to talk me into joining them. Oh how I laughed … initially … but flash forward to January this year and in MY moment of madness, was found uttering those immortal words again, “Of course,” I said, “I’m in!”. Thus became our Team, ‘The Three Muster Piers’ … one for all and all that!
I feel I have been surrounded by the medical field all of my life. I have worked in it (still do with my Complimentary Therapy business), have family and friends involved in it and my own father was a doctor who conducted hours of medical research and spent much of his working career in the OR assisting in many heart surgeries. The heart is by far the most precious of organs. It truly is the giver of life.
The British Heart Foundation can only continue to fund its life changing research thanks to support from people like you. Every donation made enables them to continue funding scientific breakthroughs that will help save and improve the lives of millions impacted by heart and circulatory disease.
Anything you can offer, however small, all adds up and will be so appreciated. Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart for your support and kind generosity. Keep swimming! 🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♀️
