Story
My son, Jasper (aged 5), and I have taken on a hiking challenge this year. What started as a simple hike up Scafell Pike on 31/3/24 has since evolved into climbing a second peak in Wales: Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on 25/5/24.
An idea transformed into a personal adventure, and for us, has progressed and taken on new meaning.
My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. He underwent major surgery with the amazing team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to remove his prostate and, thankfully, is currently doing well and we all hope this will long continue.
Jasper knows that his grandad was very sick last year. After some discussion, we decided that raising money for Prostate Cancer UK would be a great way to help others like grandad and make Jasper’s steps mean bigger than the mountains he’s climbing.
For our final challenge in July (in a good weather window), Jasper and I will be climbing Ben Nevis together - Scotland's highest peak. This will complete his remarkable achievement of conquering the three highest peaks in the England, Wales and Scotland — all at just five years old! I couldn’t be more proud of him; he’s done amazingly well and has enjoyed every moment of our father-son adventures.
If you are willing, or able, to donate and support our cause it would be hugely appreciated. All comments will be shared with Jasper, if you wish to pass on a message.
Thank you.
Peter and Jasper
