Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The London Marathon 2018 is done! Didn't manage the sub 4 hours I wanted, but came home in 4h48m despite the record breaking hot weather on the day, and battles with leg cramps and dehydration. Managed to get my legs back for the last mile after a very tricky, painful and somewhat unsteady 5 miles beforehand and get running again...even managed a sprint across the finish line! A great experience, and together we raised over £2100 for Hospice UK.
My next challenge is the Vitality 10,000; a 10km race around the streets of London. I am continuing to support Hospice UK, and hope to raise a few more £££s along the way with your help. As 10km is much shorter, I was going to aim to beat 45minutes, but have already run a sub 43 minute in training. 40 minutes is out of reach, but I should be able to manage a new PB.
Hospice UK and the important work that they do supports over 200 hospices across the UK. These hospices provide vital care to 200,000 people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses every year, and also their families and loved ones. The work they do makes a huge difference to many families.
I have seen first hand the amazing care provided by such hospices. Tragically, it was when my father, George, was being cared for when I was only 16 in a local hospice at Lincoln. He lost his battle with cancer the night before my 17th birthday. Throughout his time in the care of the hospice, he was well looked after and kept as comfortable as possible. The staff there all provided a first class service.
In order for hospices to carry on offering their vital service, they need the support of generous individuals donating through charities such as HospiceUK.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page and read my story. I hope you feel able to support this amazing charity and the hard work they do.
