Jason's Half Marathon Fundraiser

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
On the 6th of April this year it will be Molly's 18th birthday, but down to the lack of knowledge and awareness of Group B strep, Molly will be spending it up in the sky with the Angel's. Molly is and always will be a massive part of our family's life, even down to Christmas we will not open presents under the tree until we have all been to the cemetery to see her, she is very loved ❤
I have been with Kirsti for over 8 years, in that time Kirsti has campaigned and done lots of fundraising event's in aid of GBSS - from a zumba party, to bake sales and the actual London Marathon. I've always said I wanted to do something for GBSS and I've always wanted to do a half Marathon. With the London landmarks half Marathon a week before Molly's 18th birthday, this is the perfect challenge for me and my little tribute for Molly... I start at Pall Mall, get to see some of London's history and amazing landmark's along the way and finish at Downing Street.
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. Yet we still dont routinally test for it here in the UK!! It would be safer to deliever a baby in Poland then it would be in the UK and this need's to change - all babies should be protected. A private test is £35, yet most woman don't even know about it, please if you know any pregnant woman, please make them Group B Strep aware and tell them about the test available via the Group B Strep website
I know how expensive life can be - spreading the awareness of Group B Strep is so much more important, but if you would like to sponsor me, however great or small, then me and my family would be forever grateful
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
