Half Marathon Hike · 18 February 2020

JTYAF's mission centres on providing opportunities and financial support to young people, particularly those who might otherwise be unable to pursue their ambitions due to financial barriers. We provide young people with the means to progress, develop and follow their dreams.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As part of the Air Cadets, I have been very fortunate enough to be selected to train on the Air Cadets Junior Leaders Course.

The Air Cadets Junior Leaders Course (JL) is aimed at senior cadets with strong potential who have a desire to develop their leadership using advanced fieldcraft as the learning vehicle. The course is ideally suited to Cadets who have a desire to become fieldcraft and leadership instructors within the RAFAC or who wish to further their personal leadership development for careers within the Armed Forces and industry. The Course is demanding, both mentally and physically and requires candidates to learn new skills at an intensive pace.

JL is fortunate enough to be sponsored by  JTYAFwhich provides opportunities for young people to help them to develop as individuals and fulfil their ambitions in life as John was able to do. JTYAF is a charity set up in memory of fallen Royal Marine Commando and ex Junior Leader Graduate John Thornton.

As part of JL to demonstrate leadership, a fundraising project needs to be organised. I will be doing a Half Marathon Hike with a 32lb Bergen similar to that of the Royal Marine Commando Endurance Course. This was due to occur on the 6th of April 2020 but this will now be over Summer if and when the lockdowns are sufficiently restricted. The hike will be over undulated terrain. Any donations would be hugely appreciated or even just spreading the message.

Thank you so much,

Jacob
