Jan's Challenge Roth page

Challenge Roth · 20 July 2014
Hi folks,
As I type this there are 50 days to go until I embark on the biggest challenge of my life, Challenge Roth, a long distance triathlon, a mere 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26.2 mile run all to be completed within 15 hours!!
Piece of cake!! Well, I was never the most sportiest of people, like many, battled with my weight and just seemed to mosey on through life without any great purpose. In 2008, I sadly lost my cousin George, aged 46, to Motor Neurone Disease following which I decided to take part in the Great North Run where my love for running and crazy adventures began. If it wasn't for George I probably wouldn't now be on the brink of undertaking this challenge of a lifetime. I now see life as something to pack as much into as possible and to challenge yourself as you never know what you can achieve until you try and if you can do this whilst supporting others then this makes it even more worthwhile.
So why Sign Health? I was very privileged to be part of their sign2sing campaign earlier this year performing and recording 'As One' with Rock Choir. I was totally unaware of the complexities and issues faced by those in the deaf community and how access to simple things that we take for granted, such as healthcare and other support services is not so straight forward for deaf people. Sign Health is working tirelessly to raise awareness, both publicly and by lobbying the NHS and government in order to improve the health and wellbeing for those in the deaf community.
I hope that you can support me on my Road to Roth and help raise greater awareness and some well needed funds for Sign Health, a truly worthy cause.
