The big 5"O" came and went and i wasn`t as fit as i wanted to be ,dedicating my life to work and family in no particular order ,realising my life/work balance was out of wack,i needed to put something back.I had witnessed close friends and family suffer through cancer and felt so privileged to be fit (almost) and healthy.

In my teens i had lived in Brazil,so when i came across this event that takes place in Reciffe- Northern Brazil ,i felt that all the stars where aligning and that this was my chance.

An impromptu visit to Hazel Bank Country House Hotel in Borrowdale and the home of my old friend Donna who i have known for years and spent many a late Saturday night jogging around the streets of Keswick burning off the excess alcohol!! We spent time catching up, as you do ,wondering where the time had gone and how we had drifted along our separate pathways . I mentioned the Brazil Challenge ,and by the time we had finished our coffee Donna was hooked and had signed up before i had left the house....

Now we are both looking forward in anticipation to cycling the northern coastal roads of Brazil,Scared of the 75K per day cycle ? yes we certainly are ,but we feel we need to challenge ourselves.Not only do we need to be able to be cycle fit ,we need the basic knowledge of cycle maintenance ,and all in sweltering heat ...

We are both really excited at the prospect though .Waking up with just the thought of the bike ride in front of us and nothing else ...much ?!!

So come on help us achieve our goal and in some small way make a difference ,The money we raise is to be shared between 3 cancer charities ,and we all know or have known someone who has and maybe still is fighting for their lives !!
