#TeamcHRysos has decided that after three months of home-working and sitting in front of our computer screens, we really need more exercise, so why not give ourselves an extra incentive and raise sponsorship for good causes as well? The “Virtual Round Britain Challenge” was born!
Unfortunately, only the scenery is virtual – we do have to actually get out there and walk (or cycle!).
18 colleagues, split into teams of 3, will be walking or cycling as far as we can from 1 July 2020 for 16 weeks; each team trying to achieve as much distance as possible until we either complete the round-Britain coastal path distance of 2,800 miles; or run out of time trying! The challenge is to get out of our chairs, into the big wide world and travel as much of the distance as we can.
Tracking apps will be used; our results will be submitted weekly, verified and compiled to keep a check on how far each team has gone.
The Teams are:
Blister Sister - Caroline, Fiona and Sarah F
Coast Busters - Julie, Simon, Janice
The Peak Performers - Kate, Peter and Alicia
Red Hot Chilli Steppers - Jane, Sheila and Neil
Legs Miserables - Sue, Becky and Andrea
Unstoppabubbles - Sarah A, Mikayla and Lorraine

From Samaritans:
Coronavirus is impacting all of our lives. This crisis is the biggest challenge Samaritans has ever faced. Before Coronavirus hit, 20,000 Samaritans volunteers were answering a call for help every six seconds. This could be someone you know, family or friends in urgent need but unable to talk to anyone in the middle of the night. It is more important than ever for Samaritans to be there 24/7, 365 days a year for those who need us. Samaritans' helpline is feeling the pressure. They're likely to experience more people struggling to cope or in crisis and they may have less volunteers to help answer calls for help. Their teams are working hard to ensure that we can still be here 24/7, 365 days a year for those who are in crisis. Your donation to Samaritans Emergency Appeal will help them reach those who are struggling to cope. It will help Samaritans recruit more volunteers and work faster on different ways to be there. Change the life of someone who desperately needs them.
