Fundraising for East Cheshire Hospice
My first encounter with the care offered by the East Cheshire Hospice was at the beginning of 1994 when my Mum became a patient in the Day Care setting there. She went on to have Respite inpatient care, and died there in September 1994.
Since that time, I have quite naturally been a keen supporter. Several other relatives and friends have also be cared for in this time by the Hospice Team: most recently my husband Peter, who very sadly died on 14 April 2019, on the IPU there .
I, myself, have worked there as a volunteer, since January 2017. I now call them my Hospice family. The staff and volunteers (both human and canine), provide an extensive service aimed at supporting the patient and carer(s) who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. There is always a wise word and a warm embrace awaiting relatives and carers.
Further information can be found below, but suffice to remember that: over 80% of the costs have to be raised by donations or fundraising as less 20% funding comes from the government.
I’m am undertaking this trek/pilgrimage in memory of Peter, my Mum, and all my other family and friends who are no longer on this earthly plane. They will journey with me. Janet.
