Update 1st May 2019
It is now 10 years since we sadly lost our youngest daughter Stephanie to Angiosarcoma of the heart, aged just 28.
So in February this year, we held two Anniversary Memorial dinners at The Hoop in Stock and raised funds for Sarcoma UK. Both events were brilliant and it was a good time to reflect and enjoy our 'get together'. Also to mark this anniversary, our dear son-in-law Simon ran for Sarcoma UK in the London Marathon bringing the total raised this year to more than £7000.00. He ran so well and completed in a personal best time of 3:23:56. Many friends and family were there cheering him on and although it was a very tiring day, even to watch, it was also a wonderful and special day. Not only this, but Steph's Fundraising web page within the Sarcoma UK website has now reached more than £102,000.00.
This is amazing!! Friends and family have been soooo generous - thank you so much.
As Tony and I reach our 70th birthdays this year we are asking anyone who wishes to, to mark our milestone birthdays by way of kindly making a small donation to Sarcoma UK.
Sarcoma is a very rare cancer and only 1% of all diagnosed cancers are actually Sarcoma. Of this 1% there are 130 different types of Sarcoma. Sarcoma cancer can affect both bone and tissue and is very aggressive and unrelenting. Very many patients diagnosed with Sarcoma are children and young people and stand very little chance of recovering from this disease. Unlike some of the more common cancers very little funding is given to SARCOMA UK for research and because of it’s rarity this form of cancer is generally unheard of. SARCOMA UK desperately need more funding to help raise awareness of this type of cancer and for research to find drugs that can fight and cure this disease.
