Trek Uganda 2 · 23 January 2013

We support individuals, families, and groups with complex health and social care needs, often due to disability, dementia, autism or mental ill health. The support we and our dogs provide enables them to better access the world around them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This will be my third (and maybe last!) challenge for Dogs for the Disabled.

I will be trekking in a group of 30 to Uganda in February 2014 - please see the link:  http://www.actionforcharity.co.uk/PDFs/Trek%20Uganda%20Group%202.pdf

It will be an amazing adventure, and we will be trekking to Bwindi "The Impenetrable Forest" in Uganda's mountainous far southwestern tip where we will have the opportunity to track the elusive Mountain Gorillas, and also the Golden Monkey.  We will trek up Mount Sabinyo (3,645m) an inactive volcano, and will also cross Lake Mutanda in dug-out canoes piloted by local tribesmen.

However I fully expect that it will be another very TOUGH challenge which hopefully I will manage to complete.  One day we trek for 19 km over mountainous terrain, and at high altitude, and another day we trek for 18kms.  If the brochure says approx. 8 hours trekking, it will probably take me 11 hours!!  A perfect motivation for me to get fitter!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.  And please feel free to tell all your friends and colleagues!

Many thanks
