Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
I’ve decided to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon in supporting my beautiful best friend Lucy currently battling Triple Negative Grade 3 Breast Cancer.
Below is Lucy’s story so far.
Lucy is 37, a single mum to two beautiful boys, Liam 11 and Albie 2. Unfortunately Lucy hasn’t had things easy, Liam has ELF5A (Banka Syndrome) which is a rare genetics disorder which includes hyper-mobility with sublaxing joints. Lucy spends a lot of time at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London with Liam and has had to constantly fight against the system for his schooling, care and mobility future. She really is a true inspiration to all her friends and family.
On the 20th June Lucy went to the GP as she had found a lump in her breast along with a bleeding nipple.
On the 8th July Lucy was sent for a Mammogram and further scans. She was told an urgent biopsy was needed. They took samples on the same day where they were then sent for testing.
On the 19th July the devastating news was confirmed. Lucy has Triple Negative Grade 3 Breast Cancer. Further lumps were also found, tested and came back positive.
Lucy started her chemotherapy on the 11th August and has currently completed 13 gruelling sessions. Once all treatment is complete she will then face a Double Mastectomy.
All her treatments will take place at the Princess Royal Hospital. We cannot thank the staff and consultants enough in all they are doing for Lucy.
I have decided to run for Coppafeel because they are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to instil a new healthy behaviour that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to ensure breast cancer is diagnosed early and correctly by getting the nation to check their boobs/chest regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right. Lucy had the confidence to go and get checked & has made us proud everyday since in not just a physical; but mental fight to kick it.
She WILL beat this! She has an army of friends and an amazing family to support her every step of the way. You’ve got this Lucy.
So please, if you can donate, however small, this all supports a fantastic charity that empowers our younger community.
Thank you for your support!
Jane xx
