Dorset County Hospital Charity aims to help fund the development of a world class hospital... making patient care and comfort better by raising funds for wonderful facilities and pioneering medical equipment, making the staff’s working environment and facilities better, and helping to provide superior training opportunities... essentially making Dorset County Hospital and the service it provides the best it can be.
As part of the project, Dorset County Hospital Charity, supported by Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, is raising £1.75million to build an outpatient department for all cancer patients above the new radiotherapy facility.
The range of cancers that will be able to be treated include early Breast, Prostate, Lung, Bladder, Myeloma or Lymphoma, Rectal and Gynae Endometrial cancers as well as palliative care.
It is estimated that each year around 5000 cancer patients and their families will benefit from the new Radiotherapy Unit and from the new Cancer Outpatients Department being funded by Dorset County Hospital Charity
