Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We completed the challenge yeah!

Ian, Jimmy, Adam & myself all did the full distance. Jans completed 30 miles but to be fair she would have probably managed it all but she is not used to hills and we gave her the heaviest bike. Mick also completed around 38 miles which was fantastic considering he hasn't been on a bike in over a year.

Unfortunatly we got a bit behind and my estimation of when we would be at Airth was very optimistic so unfortunatly Wendy was unable to complete the last section with us. A big thanks to Wendy as she has been a great support to me over past few months and if it wasn't for her encouragement i probably would have cancelled the whole event.

We also held a car boot sale on the same morning. So a big thank you to Alan, Rebecca, Kerry & Sean who helped raise £255.40. Also a big thanks to Jim, Sadie, Sandra, Kiwi and Michael for being their to see us off.

And a big thank you to all the people who have made donations.

I'm planning on cycling 60 miles round the River Forth from Stirling, through Clackmannan to Dunfermline, over the Forth Road Bridge, through Fallin, finishing back at Stirling on Sunday 8th July 2012.  I'm undertaking this mammoth task to raise money for Strathcarron Hospice as they are doing a fantastic job looking after my best friend Heather and her family during her last days.  Keeping me company on the day and also raising money for Strathcarron are Ian Morrow, Jans Beijeman and Adam Morrow.  Support crew cycling stages are Mick Leonard, Jimmy Morrow, Wendy Stephen.  Support vehicle driven by Evert Beijeman in case of emergency!

Heather has always been so full of life.  Since the day I met Heather it has been the best friendship ever.  We've laughed and cried through so many things and been there for each other through so many ups and downs.  Heather has battled her illness for the past 7 years and has never been one to give up.  It has been her motivation for life that has encouraged me to undertake my cycle challenge.  Heather ran the Race for Life 2 years ago even though she was unwell herself and it is this fighting spirit that encourages me every day I get on my bike and hit the road in training for the big day!

Strathcarron Hospice is not a place, it is a philosophy of care that values each individual and helps them put life into their days rather than days onto their lives.  They care for families, not just patients and their care does not end when the patient has died - bereavement support is available for families.  Strathcarron Hospice enhances the quality of life and dignity in death.  Many people think Strathcarron Hospice is fully funded by the NHS, but they receive just 38 pence out of every pound they need from the NHS.  The rest depends on you. They need to raise over £65,000 every week to continue providing free care.

Please dig deep and donate now.
