Story
AsOne theatre has commissioned a piece of multi-media art, a beautifully embroidered wall hanging from artist, Elaine Hobden as part of the project The Queen and I - funded by Arts Council England through Dorset Community Foundation.
This unique Art was created and donated by Elaine Holden after approximately 25 hours of intricate work to raise funds for Dementia UK’s wonderful Admiral Nursing support work for families cruelly affected directly or indirectly by all forms of Dementia including Alzheimer’s.
To mark the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations AsOne theatre company was awarded a ‘Lets Create!’ Grant from ACE to make sure Community Art was a big part of the Jubilee celebrations. AsOne gathered a remarkable team of partners together for the project The Queen and I - Broadmayne First School near Dorchester, Dorset UK, Agincare’s Crecy Care Home, and three creative artists - ScreenPLAY, Alastair Nisbet; Musician and Composer, Laura Reid; and a Theatre Director, Jane McKell. They are bringing the very young and those of the older generation with Dementia together to share memory boxes with art, craft, photos and writing inspired by two questions- ‘What does the Queen mean to you?’, and ‘What would you do if you reigned for the day?’
So please give generously; your funding goes directly to Dementia UK. All donations gratefully received. However all those over £10 will be drawn for a lucky winner. Thank you as we know you will work AsOne to help us.
