Story
Emelyn, Stephen & Jane have now completed their walk with Beefy to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Emelyn walked every step of the way (however slowly!) and we were very happy to come in last place!!
This is a cause close to our hearts following the death of Stephen's father Tony McCann in September 2011 from an aggressive type of Spinal Lymphoma, and my treatment for Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APL) last year, which was successful.
Having worked for this charity in their head office in London between 1996 and 1998 I have absolute confidence that donations will be well spent.
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research have funded large parts of Haematology Unit at St James where I was treated, making it a centre of international excellence, especially in diagnostics.
There has been huge advances in the treatment of APL since the 1970s changing the mortality rate from 100% to less than 20% today. A real achievement for blood cancer research.
