Story
When my son, Ian, was 13 years old he was very poorly. He kept bruising and we couldn’t explain it. He was referred to the hospital straight away and we were told to expect the worst.
He had to have a bone marrow test that was determine whether or not he had leukaemia. The test results came back and thankfully it wasn’t cancer. He has idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (chronic ITP), which had to be treated with steroids. As he got older he has overcame the condition but was an incredibly scary and trying time for us all. I will never forget the help and advice we received by the Anthony Nolan trust and I have tried since that day to give back and say thank you.
When I was in my 30’s I abseiled off the Humber bridge for the trust.
In my 40’s I undertook a zip wire suspended over Skegness beach.
Now I am in my 50’s, I am going to skydive in May 2018, which may be my final ‘daredevil’ thankyou for the trust. I am terrified of heights and I am not keen on flying, so this is very much out of my comfort zone.
