Jane's London Marathon 2022 Fundraiser for Bowel Cancer UK

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
It's with a rather dark sense of deja vu that London marathon training has coincided with another round of cancer diagnosis and treatment for Andy. When I won a place in the ballot I was hoping this year would be very different to last year! It wasn't to be, over the summer we learnt that Andy's cancer had progressed to his lungs - last week he had surgery to remove mets from his left lung. Marathon training looks like a walk in the park vs the effort Andy has put in to get out of hospital in time for Charlie's birthday!
I do appreciate that a lot of you sponsored me very generously last year. We'd also like to thank everyone who's been so kind to us and supported us through this last month. There has been a lot of kindness - messages, calls, hospital visitors, homecooked meals, school runs, dog walkers, dog sitters, parking permits, teachers who've gone above and beyond, the play dates for the boys - it's all made a massive difference. I'd like to say a particular thank you to my mother and sister! When Andy was in hospital my mother and sister were both incredible - my mother came to stay for 4 nights and manned the home front so I could dash between work, the children and London (always with lunch & coffee in hand!) to be with Andy and my sister who took time off work so I wasn't alone whilst Andy was in surgery and at the end of a busy week supporting us turned up with both birthday cheer and birthday lunch for Charlie's birthday. Thank you!
