Story
I am not a runner. Never have been. So why am I staring down the barrel of another 5 weeks of training to get me round 26.2 miles of the Brighton marathon?
It was something about lockdown. A reason to get out of the house/office. But also, undeniably, an increasing awareness of our growing mental health crisis – a second, more silent, pandemic. Like so many other parents, I have witnessed the heart-breaking impact of mental health illnesses that are widespread among our younger generation.
That is why I am running my marathon for MIND, a networked organisation who provide support and advice to those who need it, and as importantly, campaign to improve research and services for our future.
I cannot promise I will make it around, but I do promise I will give it my best, one step at a time.
