Story
I write this with enormous sadness, but also amazing pride for our Locality Manager Natalie Matthews, who has been so brave since both she and her family have been forced to endure a double tragedy over the past 6
weeks. Covid19 is real, since March it has not only taken Natalies beloved grandmother, but after an ongoing battle for 6 weeks in ITU, her father lost his life on Monday.
Her family were last together for a birthday meal
prior to isolation at the start of March. But by 26 March they had all been infected with coronavirus. Firstly, Natalie lost her grandmother - who passed away alone in hospital on the very same day, Natalies dad was also admitted
to hospital and left fighting for his life with all his might for six weeks in ITU on his own. The family did get to hold his hand at the end, which many people had not had the chance to do. In Natalies own words 'if our love
could have saved you, you would have shot up off that bed and run a 1000k marathon'
Her Dad was just 57 and was incredibly fit, going to the
gym five times a week. He was one of the longest fighting survivors in ICU and so the doctors and nurses were astounded by him. The clinical team at New Cross Hospital ITU fought so hard to try and save him which is why Natalie and her family want to give something back.
Natalie is really keen to share her story and asks you to
please stay safe and stay home. Appreciate how you safe you are at home, that your family are safe at home and how by the end of this you will be able to hug them again. A privilege that Natalie, her family and friends will never
get to do again with nan and dad.
Sadly there are other colleagues from Bromford that have
also lost family and friends to this horrible disease, so lets try and raise as much as we can to help fight it so that something positive can come from it.
