Here we go again! This time we’re tackling the BUPA Great North Run on 20th September 2009. It’s always been a dream of mine to participate in this race, as I grew up in the wonderful city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, making me a true Geordie lass! We’re raising money for the National Charity, Get Kids Going! which gives disabled children and young people (up to the age of 26 years) the fantastic opportunity of participating in sport. Get Kids Going! provides them with specially built sports wheelchairs so they can do marathons, tennis, sailing, mountain skiing, water skiing and many more sports. The charity also helps and encourages British disabled children to compete in sporting events by giving them “sports grants” to help with training, physio, travel, competition fees, design and development of sports’ wheelchairs etc. With your help many could become world record holders and paralympic champions! Get Kids Going! also provides personalised manual wheelchairs for children to use every day. They support children with all disabilities and make sure that any equipment which is out grown is recycled to other children, so your valuable donations are never wasted. Over 200,000 disabled children and young people in Britain need the help of Get Kids Going! Also another 50,000 need sports wheelchairs to let them compete in their chosen sport. Get Kids Going! gives them the chance of a life time, freedom and many wonderful opportunities that you and I take for granted. No other charity in Britain focuses on helping disabled children and young people with sport in the same way.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
