Story
Having recently been introduced to Guild Care, Worthing, I have been given an opportunity to contribute to an amazing organisation that was established in 1933 and was known then as Worthing Council for Social Services. The Guild Care Website gives more information on the history of the organisation and the teams, past and present, whose dedication and inspiration has enabled the organisation to become what it is now.
Guild Care is currently building a "Home to Remember" which will offer people with dementia, together with their families and carers, a special place where they can get support, advice and care at each stage of their dementia journey. This new facility (which will be known as Haviland House, due to the early involvement of my Grandfather) will add to the other facilities within the Guild Care organisation, in delivering innovative and life changing care services to people in the area.
I imagine that we all know someone, or a family, affected by dementia or one of the related illnesses, and would want to do what we can to ease the pain and anxieties that these conditions present. Please support me in doing my small part in raising funds for Guild Care, so people in the area can continue to benefit from their care and an improved quality of life.
My challenge is to partake in three running events. The first two will take place over the May Bank Holiday when I will be involved in the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend - on the Saturday I will be running 10miles and on the Monday I will be running 10km. These will be warm up runs prior to the London Royal Parks Half Marathon which is on the 12th October 2014. The key challenge for me, (assuming the weekend goes without hitches!) will be to keep up the running between these months to enable me to achieve a personal best in the Royal Parks!
