On route to bonny Scotland :)
Hello! I'm Alfie and when I was very little the doctors told my Mummy and Daddy that I had something called Nystagmus.
Nystagmus is an involuntary movement of the eyes which often seriously reduces vision. Few people with nystagmus can drive and most encounter some difficulties in every day life, education and employment.
I don’t let anything stand in my way and am showing everyone what a little star I am! But my mummy and daddy know that when they need support and information they can turn to the Nystagmous Network. The Network raises Awareness of the condition, can help with Benefits advice, works with specialist teachers so that people with nystagmus get the best out of education with the least possible fuss, advise on employment, organises and supports fundraising, offers telephone support and the chance to talk to others with nystagmus or to the parents of children with nystagmus, provide Information, organises events where you can talk to others, publish a quarterly 16 page newsletter with research news plus personal experiences of nystagmus, fund and encourage research, supply speakers to talk about nystagmus and its effects for people working in education, health and social services, organise talks for parents and people who have nystagmus and provide a Website forum.
All this is very important when you have a special little boy like me who is going to meet more challenges than other children. As well as supporting my mummy and daddy now the nystagmus network will help me when I grow up but to do that they need funding to provide all these important services that are so needed by families like mine.
So please support my Mummy who is doing the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Nystagmus Network by making a donation.
Thank You!
Alfie xx
