Story
I want to raise some money for the Martlets for a few reasons. In part because I want to show appreciation for the visual joy of the sculptures, and in part because, actually, the message of #BeMoreSnail, of slowing down, and taking notice, of being mindful sums up how I’ve tried to spend some of the year since I left my job because of burn out. For me slowing down and appreciating the little things has helped me no end.
I’m volunteering with the Martlets Fundraising team this autumn as a Snailspace Routemaster and the way my rota works out means that on Friday 12 October I’ll have done a four hour Routemaster shift (checking the snails are ok, and helping people with the app, or to find snails) and will then head home and collect Richard and we’ll both head out to take part in the Snailway Safari. I understand that as part of the safari we’ll visit 22 of the beautiful snails, so I rather think I might be a little tired at the end of all of that walking!
