Story

Please support me as I take on Snowdon, Scafell and Ben Nevis, all within 36 hours for an amazing charity Meningitis Now.

In June 2016 my 16 month old son Bobby caught bacterial meningitis. Life was never the same again. There are no words to describe the pain you feel when your watching your child fighting for his life for 48 hours. I will never forget the moment Bobby finally started to respond to the treatment and i got to hold him in my arms and then he opened his eyes a day i shall treasure for ever.My boy made it.💙

The recovery was hard as Bobby lost his ability to sit up, crawl and walk and 2 weeks after leaving the hospital discovered he was left profoundly  deaf.  Another day i will never forget but after a lot of research and tests  Bobby qualified for bilateral cochlear implants. So i took  time off from work 6 months in total and completely focused all my time and energy and started the most incredible journey in fixing my son and getting him  walking and hearing again and talking. What a journey its been, being a single parent it was very tough and at times very lonely as my only focus was on my Bobby but also to my eldest daughter who also needed me. So 6years on Bobby is now 7  thriving in mainstream school, he enjoys playing cricket, tennis and football.

The implants are incredible my boy is hearing again and he talks so beautiful you would never know he is deaf. We call  the implants his ears and Bobby has adapted to them better then i could ever imagine. He is such bright, caring , loving ,chatty, confident, inquisitive little boy he lightens up the room.

Meningitis Now has helped me through a very difficult time in my life and want to give back. Also i think when you go through a life changing event it changes you as person and makes you realise whats important in life and you never know what tomorrow is going to bring. Bobby at only 17 months had to deal with such challenge emotionally and physically so now its his mummy turn , its something i really want to do just for myself to say  i climbed the 3 highest mountains in the uk !!!! and hopefully raise a lot of money for doing it for such  great cause that is very close to my heart ❣️
