The Children's Trust care for and rehabilitate children with severe disabilities. I have become involved in this charity through a friend, Julia Hart, who is an area fund raiser for TCT. When she first asked me to join the Cycle Cuba Challenge, my immediate response was, "Impossible!" I work full time and have three children at three different schools, so the logistics would not be easy! However, I am lucky enough to have the support of amazing friends who have agreed to step in and be me for nine days, so I'm doing it!! I have started training, with Julia and Karen, and I no longer have trouble sitting down after just 10 miles in the saddle. I will try to keep this page posted with news of training progress - we took part in the Wheels of Steel ride yesterday and managed 28 miles of Surrey hills. There is a long way to go, as we will be cycling up to 70 miles each day in Cuba - eeek!

22nd August 2010. This morning I cycled 20 miles (lonely without Julia and Karen for company!) and ran 4 (less lonely as Jack and Anna came on their scooters). The next big milestone will be the London to Canterbury Bike Ride (with the Children's Trust) on the 12th September. I feel totally unprepared for this not just in terms of fitness - the thought of checking in at 7am in Greenwich fills me with dread. Who on earth are we going to ask to drive us there at such an ungodly hour for starters?! I am also shockingly behind on my fund raising - entirely my fault as I have yet to tell many of my friends about this page. That's the next job for today!
